LSAT sample exam
Read this caution before using a sample LSAT exam
You don’t want to rely on any old LSAT sample exam that you stumble across in Google. In fact, the quality of tests you will find online varies immensely. You can get an authentic LSAT sample exam directly from LSAC. Or you could find sample questions that have only a vague resemblance to an LSAT question.
Interestingly enough, some of the highest-ranking results that you will come across are actually some of the lowest-quality sample tests. (If you want to go straight to the list we have compiled, you can find it at the bottom of this post.)
It is very important that you don’t think that the LSAT sample exam or question you find on the web will actually tell you how well you will score on the actual test (with the exception of the sample LSAT you can download from LSAC, which will tell you exactly how well you would score on the actual test). These samples, even the well-written ones, are not statistically normed to reflect the full distribution on the 120-180 score range applied to the full sample of test takers.
Use the sample tests for quick and dirty introduction.
Plan to use them as a quick and dirty introduction to the basic type of questions on the test. They can also give you an idea as to the basic formatting of the LSAT, without overwhelming you.
When the time comes, use real LSATs
When you are ready to buckle down and start your prep in earnest, you should exclusively use authentic LSATs. These are real LSAT tests that were used in past years, so they are as realistic as it gets, and when you get a 155 on them, you know that means you would get a 155 on an LSAT that counts.
You can get real LSAT from Amazon, or LSAC, or through a test prep company.
Every commercial LSAT prep course I am aware of uses authentic LSATs. So you should be safe there. A big benefit of a commercial course is that you will get access to detailed answers and explanations to those real questions, which is a big help if you take a practice test and are trying to learn from your mistakes.
For students doing preparation on their own, it is very easy to get real LSATs from LSAC itself, or from Amazon. The most cost-effective option is to buy the latest edition of the “10 Prep” books, which, as you can guess from the title, have 10 old LSATs. Be careful, make sure you buy the most recent edition, since there are several editions for sale.
Free LSAT sample exam available online
This is your first stop. It is a real LSAT from LSAC, that was given in a prior year. Download
If you don’t want to devote a full 140 minutes to taking a sample LSAT, consider one of these options:
Get Prepped has a half-length sample LSAT, which you can take in just 70 minutes. Get it
If you just want a quick intro to the types of questions or you just don’t want to download and print a paper LSAT, you can answer sample questions online at these sites. Note, we eliminated the completely unrealistic sites we found, but the quality of these listed below still varies widely and these also tend to be ‘watered-down’ or short versions. Again, use these only for a very cursory introduction to the test:

A final warning about other sample questions you find online. I have found that unless a website is owned by a test prep firm, you should not bother using the questions you find at that site, as they are uniformly garbage.
